About Three Compass Media
Three Compass Media was founded by Rob Dowd, an educator, entrepreneur, and mentor who believes that meaningful work should also allow time for family, health, and life outside of work.
Rob spent 15 years as a teacher, working in a variety of roles including gifted education, high school mathematics, and elementary education for grades 3 through 5. Throughout his teaching career, he was passionate about helping others learn, grow, and succeed.
In addition to education, Rob has also been an entrepreneur for many years. He is the owner of Pittsburgh Lifeguarding of the South Hills, a company he has operated for over 15 years, and has been a lifeguard instructor for more than 30 years, training thousands of lifeguards throughout his career.
Rob’s perspective on work and life changed dramatically after being diagnosed with colon cancer shortly after the birth of his son. At the time, his family faced the difficult reality of balancing health, work, and financial stability. During this period, Rob’s wife left her teaching career to focus on their family and began working in the travel industry, where they discovered both the financial opportunity and lifestyle flexibility it could provide.
Seeing the potential to help others create similar flexibility in their lives, Rob founded Three Compass Media. The mission is simple: to help individuals explore opportunities within the travel industry while receiving the training, mentorship, and support needed to succeed.
With a leadership style rooted in education, mentorship, and support, Rob focuses on helping people learn the skills they need to confidently build their path in the vacation industry.
